Associate Manager, Lab Operations at LabCentral

Layne Kasprzyk has over 13 years of work experience. In 2020, they began working as an Associate Manager and Lead of Lab Operations at LabCentral, where they are focused on instrument and operations support in the Analytical Chemistry Lab, maintaining and providing training on HPLC, FPLC, LC/MS and other instrumentation. Layne also provides general lab assistance to biotech startup residents and the rest of the Lab Operations team. From 2015 to 2019, they worked at Materion Corporation as an Analytical Chemist, Lab Lead, and Lab Tech II, where they helped lead the QC Lab with method development, instrumentation/testing support, and training. Layne also performed analyses on precious and non-precious metal samples using ICP-OES, ICP-MS, WDXRF, and other analytical techniques. Additionally, they worked on continuous improvement projects to both enhance the quality of data being reported, shorten turnaround times, and pursue cost savings and environmental improvement efforts. In 2019, they worked as a Bartender at Community Beer Works. From 2015 to 2016, they worked as a Brewery Intern at Resurgence Brewing Company. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Metals Analyst at TestAmerica. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as an Assistant Scientist at IQVIA, where they performed extraction techniques such as protein precipitation, Supported liquid/liquid and solid phase extraction to prepare samples for LC/MS/MS analysis. Layne also performed other lab techniques such as preparing reagents, QC samples and standards, weighing compounds and calibrating pipettes. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Student and Student Manager at Ithaca College, where they conducted research synthesizing and analyzing biodiesel made from waste vegetable oil provided by one of the school's dining halls. Layne also ran scheduling meetings, and the school's information desk and recreation center, and was the on call building manager for the campus center at various times throughout the week.

Layne Kasprzyk completed a B.A. in Environmental Science and Chemistry from Ithaca College in 2010. In 2015-2016, they obtained a Certificate in Brewing Science and Service from Erie Community College. Layne also obtained a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (ICBB) from Kent State University in April 2019 and a Certified Beer Server from the Cicerone® Certification Program in May 2018. Prior to their college education, Layne attended Clarence High School from 2002-2006.
