Daniel Ortiz, PhD, D(ABMM), is currently serving as the Technical Director of Microbiology at Labcorp. Previously, they held roles as System Director and Associate Director of Microbiology and Molecular Pathology at Beaumont Health, where they played a critical role in the COVID-19 response and led standardization efforts across multiple hospital laboratories. They also gained valuable experience as an Interim Technical Director at LabCorp and during their time as a Clinical Microbiology Fellow at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Daniel completed their PhD in Immunology and Microbiology at Wayne State University, following a Bachelor's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
