Peter Sausen

Peter Sausen is the President and CEO of Drug Development Strategies, LLC. They bring 30 years of drug development experience across pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations, providing scientific leadership and strategic guidance to hundreds of biotechnology, emerging, and large pharmaceutical clients. They led global nonclinical safety programs and early development solutions in prior roles, including Head of Nonclinical Safety Assessment at Eli Lilly (2001–2005) and Global Chief Scientific Officer, Nonclinical Safety Assessment at Covance Laboratories (2011), and held senior leadership at Covance/Labcorp Drug Development (2015–2019; 2019–2022), overseeing nearly 500 scientists at seven sites and contributing to hundreds of development programs and more than 200 IND/CTA filings. They earned a PhD in Toxicology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1992, a BA in Biology and Chemistry/Biology from Ripon College in 1987, and completed an Executive Scholar program at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management in 2010.
