Nik Merlock has held a variety of positions since 2017. In that year, they were a Software Developer at Jamko, and a Medical Scribe at ProScribe. In 2019, they worked as a Lead Web Developer and Software Developer at Augmented Destiny, and as a Research Assistant/Web Developer at UTSA Research, Economic Development, and Knowledge Enterprise. In 2021, they began working as a Full Stack Software Developer at LabLynx, Inc. (LabLynx LIMS). At UTSA Research, their responsibilities included brain section staining via Immunohistochemistry (IHC), brain imaging via Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy (CLSM), modeling and analysis of Microelectrode Array (MEA) cerebral organoid data, spectral analysis of MEA data, cell culture, PCR screenings, plasmid cloning by Restriction Enzyme Digest (aka Subcloning), development of software & analytical tools to assist in data analysis/visualization, and development and maintenance of the Hsieh Lab Website. At Augmented Destiny, their responsibilities included developing front end website architecture and back end website applications, designing user interactions on web pages, and creating servers and databases for functionality. At ProScribe, their responsibilities included real-time documentation of patient visits with their Primary Care Physician (PCP), documentation of patient history, Theirtory of Present Illness (HPI), review of systems, past medical and surgical history, family and social histories, medications and allergies, and documentation of physical examination findings and procedures as performed by the physician.

Nik Merlock graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology and Neurosciences.
