Lake Champlain Basin Program

Eric Howe serves as the Director of the Lake Champlain Basin Program and the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership, overseeing federally-funded initiatives focused on the preservation of Lake Champlain and its watershed. This role encompasses administering programs that promote natural resource conservation, enhance water quality, and engage communities. Prior experience includes serving as Technical Coordinator for the Lake Champlain Basin Program and as Lake Protection Scientist at the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, where responsibilities included habitat surveys and water quality assessments. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Natural Resources and an M.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from the University of Vermont, along with a B.S. in Environmental and Forest Biology from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry.
