Jose Abrigo

Jose Abrigo is currently the HIV Project Director at Lambda Legal, focusing on national and state impact litigation and policy advocacy. Formerly, they served as the Director of LGBTQ/HIV Advocacy at Legal Services NYC, supervising attorneys and managing litigation for the LGBTQ+ and HIV+ communities. In the past, Jose held positions such as Senior Staff Attorney at Queens Legal Services, where they led civil rights litigation, and Legal Fellow at New York City Civil Court, representing pro se clients. They also worked as an Adjunct Professor at the City University of New York School of Law and interned at the Sylvia Rivera Law Project, advocating for low-income transgender and gender nonconforming individuals. Jose earned a Juris Doctor from the City University of New York School of Law and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Ancient History from UC Berkeley.
