Linux Support Engineer at Lambda

Matt Smith has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Matt started their career in 2007 as a Teacher at Calvert County Public Schools. After teaching for a few years, they transitioned into the IT industry, working as an Assistant IT Manager at Washington International School in 2011, where they were responsible for the Student Information System and supervising the HelpDesk. Theirresponsibilities also included system and network administration, planning and implementation of projects, and teaching programming and networking courses at the high school level.

Later, in 2013, they became the IT Manager at The Key School, where they were responsible for the integrity, maintenance, and security of the network and data systems. Matt also led in strategic planning for information systems and worked closely with the academic technology team to plan and implement initiatives and training.

In 2016, Matt became a Senior Linux System Administrator at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. After spending a few years there, they transitioned to a Senior System Administrator role at Naval Nuclear Laboratory (FMP) in 2019.

More recently, in 2022, Matt joined Lambda as a Linux Support Engineer.

Prior to their IT career, Matt also worked as the Operations Manager at FoodChain LLC in 2010.

Matt Smith graduated from Grace College & Seminary in 2007, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology. In 2017, they obtained a CompTIA Security+ ce certification from CompTIA and in 2022, they obtained a certification in InfiniBand Essentials from NVIDIA.
