James Knowles

Partner at Langleys

James joined Langleys in November 2018, as a Partner in the private client team. He is also Head of the team in York. James trained as a solicitor in Leeds, qualifying in 2004 and has subsequently worked in both regional and national law firms across the north and in London.

James acts for private individuals, business owners and trustees locally and nationally. He specialises in capital tax planning advice (predominantly Inheritance Tax), succession planning, Will drafting, estate administration (including estates with overseas property), Powers of Attorney and trust formation, management and restructuring.

James works closely with our corporate and commercial property teams, financial advisors and accountants to ensure that everyone receives holistic advice and in the most cost effective way possible.

James is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and is recognised in the Legal 500 as a specialist in his chosen field. James is also studying towards a ILM Leadership and Management qualification at York University.
