Michael Pies

Michael Pies currently serves as the Global Head of Production and Technology at LANXESS, a position held since October 2006, overseeing the Liquid Purification Technologies business unit across multiple locations including Leverkusen, Bitterfeld, and Jhagadia, India. Prior to this role, Michael Pies was a Manufacturing Director at Bayer AG from January 1999 to October 2006, where responsibilities included managing manufacturing operations in Germany, the USA, and Mexico, as well as leading significant plant relocations and restructuring efforts. Previous positions at Bayer AG also included Plant Manager roles at the Alkylation plant and Velcorin/PSA plant in Krefeld Uerdingen, and Lab Manager in the Department of Organic Chemicals/Process Development. Michael Pies began a career in academia with a promotion in March 1990 from the Department of Organic Chemistry at the University of Duisburg.
