Erik Friedman is a seasoned director and acting instructor with extensive experience in the opera industry since 2008. Currently self-employed and serving as the Assistant Director and Acting Instructor at LA Opera since January 2015, Erik has contributed to productions such as Carmen, Salome, and The Magic Flute. Previous roles include Assistant Director and Acting Instructor at Lyric Opera of Chicago from August 2012 to July 2016, focusing on productions like Simon Boccanegra and Rigoletto. Erik's experience also includes a tenure at Boston Lyric Opera, where productions directed include Hansel and Gretel. Educationally, Erik holds multiple degrees in music and theatre, including an MFA in Theatre Directing from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Theatre from Butler University.
