Brendan Ross

Brendan Ross has a diverse work experience in the field of machine learning and data science. Brendan has worked as a Machine Learning Scientist at Layer 6 AI since 2020. Prior to that, they were a Machine Learning Intern at the same company in 2019, where they developed an app to visualize high dimensional embeddings of image datasets. This app was used in a research presentation at NeurIPS.

Before joining Layer 6 AI, Brendan worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Waterloo in 2019. In this role, they conducted research on capacitated vehicle routing and knapsack approximations, inventing metrics to evaluate the quality of these approximations.

In 2018, Brendan gained experience as a Software Engineering Intern at Uber Advanced Technologies Group.

In 2017, they worked as a Junior Machine Learning Developer at Dessa, contributing to a corporate-scale machine learning software, and as a Data Scientist at Capital One, where they built vector embeddings for North American restaurants and developed a restaurant recommender system. Brendan also worked as a Portfolio Analytics Developer at TD Asset Management in 2016.

Brendan has a strong background in machine learning, with expertise in Python, TensorFlow, Ruby, Scala, Java, and Bash, among other technologies.

Brendan Ross began their education at Thornhill Secondary School, where they obtained their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) from 2011 to 2015. After completing high school, they enrolled in the University of Waterloo, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Pure Mathematics and Statistics. Brendan attended the university from 2015 to 2020 and successfully obtained a Bachelor of Mathematics (BMath) degree. In 2020, Brendan also had the opportunity to study as an exchange student at the National University of Singapore, although the specific field of study for this program is not provided.
