Devinder K.

Devinder K. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

Starting in 2011, Devinder worked as the Student Head of the Computer Vision and Image Processing Group at the National Institute of Technology Warangal, where they coordinated research projects and focused on areas such as video-surveillance, object tracking, digital image cryptography, and pattern recognition.

In 2012, Devinder served as a Summer Research Fellow at the IUPR Lab in the Technical University Kaiserslautern. They conducted research on camera self-calibration and its application to document dewarping software.

From 2014 to 2020, Devinder joined the University of Waterloo as a Graduate Researcher. They worked in the WAVE and VIP labs, focusing on deep learning architectures and their applications in autonomous driving and medical imaging. Devinder is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in explainable AI.

During this time, Devinder was also a Research Engineer at LIP-6 and an Intern in the Deep Learning Research Group at Philips Research.

In 2016, Devinder served as an AI Scientist in Residence at NEXT Canada, and from 2017 to 2019, they became the Lead AI Scientist in Residence at the NextAI program.

Devinder also worked as an Industrial AI Advisor & Consultant from 2017 to 2020, providing expertise in AI to various industries.

In 2020, Devinder became an AI Expert Committee Member for Scale AI, where they were involved in the validation of ventures for Scale AI's $20M accelerate program.

Devinder's recent work experience includes roles at Layer 6 AI and TD Bank. At Layer 6 AI, Devinder held the positions of Engineering Manager / Head of ML Product Engineering & ML Infrastructure and Head of MLOps. They led teams responsible for ML pipeline development, ML infrastructure, data exploration, and model production and maintenance. Devinder's work at Layer 6 AI/TD Bank resulted in delivering significant annualized benefits to the bank.

Currently, Devinder holds the role of Head of MLOps at Layer 6 AI/TD Bank, leading teams in ML Product Engineering and DevOps/infra. They continue to oversee the end-to-end ML pipeline and are responsible for delivering ML use cases in the cloud.

Devinder K. has a Postdoctoral Fellowship from Stanford University. Prior to that, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Waterloo. They also hold a Master's degree in Systems Design Engineering from the same institution.
