Wayne’s extensive operating and strategy experience in small and large consumer companies in China enables him to provide wisdom and guidance to LDVP entrepreneurs.
Prior to launching LDV Partners, Wayne co-founded Lucky Pai Limited, the leading TV home shopping company in China. As CFO and President, then as CEO, he achieved revenues of RMB 1Billion ($150M USD) and grew the company to 1,400 employees in less than four years. Lucky-Pai was backed by Lightspeed Ventures, Intel Capital, Goldman Sachs, DT Capital, and Tenaya Capital. In 2010, Lucky Pai was acquired by the Lotte Group and Itochu Group.
Before founding Lucky Pai, Wayne was a managing director of CBC Capital, a US$280 million early-stage venture fund. Wayne led fund formation and fundraising and focused on media and technology investments in China. Before joining CBC Capital, Wayne served as General Manager of Corporate Development for China Netcom Group Corporation. He led Netcom’s strategic investment, business restructuring divisions, and its 2004 IPO. As a consultant at McKinsey & Company, Wayne focused on strategy development, lean operational transformation, and organizational design for large state-owned enterprises, private companies, and multinationals in China.
Wayne earned his M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management, his M.S. in Planning Studies from the University of Southern California, and his B.S. in Urban Planning from Tongji University in Shanghai. He is a board governor of YKPao School in Shanghai and is Chairman of the YKPao School Foundation’s development committee.
