James Stanier is an accomplished technology leader with extensive experience in engineering and management. Currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer for Nordhealth's veterinary business since April 2025, James previously held the role of Director of Engineering at Shopify from September 2021 to March 2025, where contributions included guiding large teams on major priorities. James also serves on the Advisory Board for LeadDev, influencing conference and editorial content since July 2023. Additional roles include Technical Advisor at BlackCurve and various engineering leadership positions at Brandwatch, culminating as SVP Engineering during the company's acquisition by Cision in 2021. James began an academic journey with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Sussex, complemented by a BSc in the same field, and has held editorial leadership within ACM's student magazine.
