Katie Murphy

Managing Director Of Networks at Leading Educators

Katie Murphy has a diverse work experience in the education field. Katie started their career in 2001 at Teach for America as a Teacher, and later served as the Director of Transportation and Special Events at the New York Summer Institute. From 2003 to 2005, they worked as a Fourth Grade Teacher at The Pike School. Katie then joined the Village Learning Place as the Youth Programs Coordinator and later became the Associate Director of Education.

In 2010, Murphy joined Baltimore City Public Schools as the Team Lead of School Support Networks, where they managed a team providing academic and operational support to 15 public schools. Katie also coached school leadership teams and provided targeted assistance for challenges identified by the Central Office. During this time, the supported schools saw an increase in performance on state testing.

From 2011 to 2015, they served as the Director of School Support at The Achievement Network, supporting schools in their implementation of instructional practices. Katie then became the Managing Director of Instructional Quality at New Schools for New Orleans from 2015 to 2018.

Currently, Murphy is the Managing Director of Networks at Leading Educators, where they are responsible for overseeing the organization's networks.

Katie Murphy's education history starts with their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in International Relations from Claremont McKenna College, which they obtained from 1997 to 2001. Following this, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University specializing in Child, Youth, and Family Service and Programs. Katie completed their MBA from 2005 to 2006. Recently, in 2015-2016, they participated in the School Systems Leaders Fellowship, where they focused on School System Leadership.
