Patrick McDonald

Patrick McDonald has a diverse work experience in software engineering. Patrick is currently working at LeafLink as a Senior Backend Software Engineer, focusing on payment solutions for the cannabis industry. In this role, they collaborate with multiple agile teams and mentors junior engineers in APM performance tuning. Patrick also leads the Event-Driven Architecture initiative within the organization.

Prior to LeafLink, Patrick worked at viaPeople, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. Patrick was responsible for the full software development life cycle of various customer-facing HRCM SaaS platforms. Patrick led and participated in the development of high availability and performance projects, including an Analytic Suite, Login Identity Server, and Automated Data Integrity System.

Before that, Patrick co-founded Pixstory.me, where they served as the Lead Developer. Patrick developed an interactive photo mobile and web application, being the sole developer of iOS and Android applications.

Patrick's earlier experiences include working as a Research Assistant at Monmouth University, where they collaborated on implementing a tagging system and designing a complex SQL relational scheme. Patrick also successfully led a team of five students in delivering milestones and requirements.

Lastly, Patrick had an internship at Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Labs, where they developed a chat service and response bot using Java, implemented a round-robin scheduling algorithm for an internal Unit Test system using Python, and developed a GNU Radio block using C++.

Patrick McDonald began their education in 2008 at Mercer County Community College, where they did not earn a degree or specify a field of study before leaving in 2010. Patrick then enrolled at Monmouth University in the same year, receiving their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science in 2013. Patrick continued studying at Monmouth University and is currently working towards a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science, although the degree is on hold and the end year is unknown.
