Kai Wu Ⓥ has a varied and extensive work experience. In 2017, they were an Engineer & Cofounder for LeafSide, working to create and deliver 100% WFPB meals. From 2014-2017, they were the Founder & Director of Gridacy GmbH, a company that makes and runs Enerkeep.com. In 2013, they were a Cofounder and Facilitator for Hacker Retreat, a career accelerator for experienced coders. From 2002-2006, Kai Wu Ⓥ was a Ph.D. Researcher, Teaching Assistant and Researcher at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In 2006, they were an independent Software Developer. In 1999, they were a Program Manager and Software Developer for ArsDigita. In 1997, they were a QA Engineer for NewsEdge. In 1996, they were a Science Editorial Assistant for W. W. Norton & Company, Inc.

Kai Wu Ⓥ obtained a B.A. in Physics and Materials Science from Cornell University. Kai then earned a M.Eng. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, followed by a Ph.D. in the same field from the same institution. In December 2014, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
