Senior Art Director at LeapFrog

Chris Roberts has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of art and design. Chris started their career in 1991 as an Art Department Coordinator at Paramount Pictures, where they provided support to the art director and illustrator for TV shows. Chris then worked at Hanna-Barbera as a Marketing Temp, assisting with promotion on animated TV shows.

In 1993, Chris joined Warner Bros. Animation Art as a Production Coordinator, curating and managing the restoration of animation cels for display and sale at retail galleries. Chris also developed original production art packages and contributed concepts to the gallery production team.

Chris continued their journey at Warner Bros. Gallery as a Marketing Supervisor, organizing animation gallery events and developing marketing materials. Chris eliminated the freelance design budget by handling collateral design.

Moving forward, Chris became a Graphic Designer at Warner Bros. Studio Stores, designing art assets for licensed retail products. Chris achieved 100% on-time delivery of designs and created extensive back-to-school programs for emerging DC Comics and Harry Potter IP.

In 2001, Chris established their own business, Rocketderby, as a sole-proprietor based in Los Angeles. Chris provided design consultation, direction, and development for various companies including Disney, Warner Bros., LeapFrog, and more.

From 2002 to 2005, Chris taught adult education typography and graphic design classes at UCLA Extension. Chris developed curriculum, provided lectures and critiques for classes of 10 to 30 students.

Chris then worked as the Pottery Barn Special Projects Manager at Williams-Sonoma, Inc., where they managed the art development of specialty catalogs, marketing collateral, and direct email. Chris also managed a design staff of two and the executive approval process.

In 2007, Chris joined LeapFrog as an Art Director, where they developed art for children's interactive books, educational video games, apps, toys, and animation. Chris led the visual development of an interactive book launch library and drove brand decision-making through art presentations. Chris was later promoted to Senior Art Director, where they maintained high visual standards for content.

Alongside their professional positions, Chris also taught adult education graphic design classes at UC Berkeley Extension from 2007 to 2010.

Chris Roberts attended John Marshall High School from 1984 to 1988. After high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the University of California, Riverside, from 1987 to 1991.
