Jared Giles

Board Member at LeAp

Jared Giles is a board member at LeAp. Jared was previously the director of workforce development initiatives at Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation from October 2018 to July 2021. In this role, they led the Navy Yard’s career pathways work to create equitable paths to economic mobility and wealth creation for young New Yorkers. Jared also designed and implemented the Navy Yard’s Internship Program which connects more than 150 qualified students with over 75 businesses through paid internships.

Following New York City’s shutdown in March 2020, Jared transitioned the Summer Internship Program and the Brooklyn STEAM Center’s work-based learning programming to remote opportunities. Jared also expanded partnerships with the City University of New York, St. Francis College, Hudson Valley Community College, and other higher education institutions to scale career pathway programs across the city and connect faculty to the 400+ businesses on the Navy Yard. Additionally, they created an employer-sponsored full-tuition reimbursement program that guarantees a full-time job upon graduation from college, saving participants $6,000 on college costs.

Jared also convened over 60 employer and higher education partners to launch industry-led work-based learning programs that expose students at the Brooklyn STEAM Center to in demand careers. Jared also institutionalized data tracking systems with Airtable across the Navy Yard’s career pathways programs to ensure accurate reporting on program outcomes and refine the program’s mission and vision.

Jared Giles has a Master of Arts in Arts Politics from NYU Tisch Art and Public Policy and a Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
