Learn to Achieve (L2A) is a California 501(c)(3) tech nonprofit building a new way into the workforce for people of every background.

AI and outsourcing have collapsed the entry-level white-collar career ladder. Recent graduates can't get the first job that used to teach them the trade. Career switchers can't break in. We think the answer isn't more credentials — it's more evidence. Real work, on problems that actually matter, documented as the kind of economic value hiring managers recognize.

L2A connects learners with two kinds of projects:

OPEN-SOURCE CONTRIBUTIONS. Curated repos where you can ship code that lowers energy use in AI models, improves civic data infrastructure, expands accessibility, or moves climate tooling forward. Remote, immediate, GitHub-verifiable.

CAUSE PROJECTS. Real operational work with nonprofits and community organizations — rebuild an inventory system for a food bank, redesign a marketing funnel for a community clinic, set up accounting for a youth program. Open to all skills: tech, business, design, marketing, accounting, logistics.

Every project produces a documented impact case verified by the cause organization, hosted publicly by L2A, and translated into the economic value language hiring managers actually read.

We also build and ship our own products. The first is grindIn — a peer-to-peer services platform helping people locked out of the entry-level pipeline get paid work and build a verifiable track record. Phase 1 (automated job discovery and application engine) is live now and open source.

We're stewarding our 501(c)(3) reinstatement under IRS Rev. Proc. 2014-11 and operating in the meantime under our California public-benefit nonprofit registration (Entity #C4084984, EIN 82-3970859).
