Steve Liu

Steve Liu is the Associate Vice President of Research at MBZUAI and a professor of Machine Learning and Computer Science at McGill University, where they also engage in research and educational activities. Liu co-founded and serves as Chief Scientist at Palona AI and held leadership roles, including VP and Chief Scientist, at the Samsung AI Center in Montreal from 2019 to 2024. Their extensive experience includes being the Chief Scientist at Tinder, where they led significant research and innovation. Liu is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and IEEE, with a strong record of over 400 publications and more than 30 patents in the fields of AI, machine learning, and embedded systems.
