Laurent Alt

Laurent Alt has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several industries and roles. Laurent began their career as a software developer at Thomson Digital Image, where they developed the first industrial inverse kinematics package for 3D character animation. Laurent also wrote a Nurbs geometric kernel as part of their PhD on 3D geometric modeling.

From there, Laurent moved to Dassault Systemes, where they held various positions including Senior PLM Architect, Architecture and Components Strategy, and Manager of CATIA V4 topology kernel team. In these roles, they were responsible for defining and deploying corporate strategy for component architecture and ensuring interoperability.

Following their time at Dassault Systemes, Laurent worked as the Director of 3D Geometry at SpaceClaim before becoming CEO of HD3D. As CEO, they managed a large-scale agile collaborative software development project involving leading French VFX Studios and leading labs in image processing, sound encoding, and security.

Laurent then joined Lectra as the Software R&D Director, leading a team of over 200 people in defining, developing, and supporting all Lectra software. Laurent implemented the Lean Software Development approach and emphasized User eXperience in the development process.

After leaving Lectra, Laurent founded Digital Positive, a consulting company specializing in agile practices, culture, and leadership. As the owner, they delivered agile expertise to consulting companies, provided coaching to executives, and supported large-scale culture change initiatives.

Most recently, Laurent joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) as a Partner & Associate Director for Enterprise Agility & Systems, where they are currently responsible for driving agility and systems within the organization.

Laurent Alt completed their education from 1983 to 1987 at Ecole normale supérieure, where they obtained a PhD in Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Laurent has obtained several certifications such as Systems Thinking from Cornell University in December 2021, Systems Thinking and sustainability from a Fritjof Capra course in December 2021, Psychological Flexibility coaching from Benjamin Schoendorff - Nadine Hemmer in June 2021, Leading SAFe from Scaled Agile, Inc. in July 2017, and Organizational Behavior Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in December 2016. Laurent also holds a certification as a Certified SAFe® 5 Agilist, obtained at an unspecified date.
