Katie Martin has had a long and varied career in education. In 2021, they began their current role as Chief Impact Officer at Learner-Centered Collaborative. From 2019-2021, they held the positions of Chief Impact Officer and Vice President of Leadership and Learning at Altitude Learning. In 2018, they were Head of Partnerships West at AltSchool. From 2017-2018, they were the Director of District Leadership at the Buck Institute for Education. From 2013-2017, they held several positions at the University of San Diego, including Director of Professional Learning, Associate Director of Professional Learning- Mobile Technology Learning Center, and Professional Learning Specialist. In 2012, they were an Adjunct Faculty member at Cal State San Marcos. From 2008-2011, they were an Adjunct Professor MLMED Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and an Educational Consultant at the Assessment Training Institute. From 2003-2008, they were a New Teacher Mentor/Instructional Coach and 7th & 8th grade ELA teacher and Literacy Coach at the Hawaii State Department of Education.
Katie Martin's education history includes a PhD in Curriculum Studies, Middle Level, Teacher Induction and Development, Literacy Education from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, which they completed in 2011. Katie also holds an MEd in Middle Level Education MLMED from the same university, which they earned in 2006. In 2003, they received a California Teaching Credential from California State University San Marcos, with a focus on Middle School, English, and Social Studies. Katie also holds a BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Spanish, which they earned from California State University San Marcos in 2001. Finally, they attended Mt Carmel for their secondary education.
