Jim Hurley

Founder, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer at Learning Explorer

Jim Hurley has a diverse and extensive work experience in the educational technology field. Jim began their career as an Educational Technology Instructor at UCSB Extension in 1992 and served in this role until 2007. In 1999, Jim founded Lesson Planet, a prominent online curriculum search solution for PreK-12 educators, where they held the position of CEO until 2021. Additionally, in 2021, Jim assumed the role of Founder and Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer at Learning Explorer, an award-winning learning object repository and curriculum management platform that offers a comprehensive ecosystem of online learning resources for preK-12 educators.

Jim Hurley attended UC Santa Barbara from 1980 to 1993 where they obtained two M.Ed. degrees. From 1980 to 1983, they pursued a M.Ed. in Political Science and Education, and from 1980 to 1993, they also earned a M.Ed. in Educational Technology.
