Shelly McClanahan

Shelly McClanahan serves as the District ESL Coordinator for McMinn County Schools, overseeing English as a Second Language services for 60 K-12 students and managing a team of 4 ESL instructors. Responsibilities include curriculum design, case management, compliance, and district-wide training for up to 800 instructors. McClanahan also works as a Curriculum Writer for LearningMate, developing English Language Arts materials for special needs students, and freelances as a writer on various topics, including linguistic minority students. Previous experience includes roles as an ESL Instructor for Rutherford County Schools, where significant contributions improved district WIDA rankings, and as a Curriculum Coordinator at Korea International School, overseeing staff training and ELL curriculum development. McClanahan holds an Ed.S. in Language and Literacy Education from The University of Georgia and multiple degrees in education.
