Debbie Cooper has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Debbie began their career as a Customer Service Manager at iPcenta Ltd, where they managed a team of customer service representatives and handled various operational functions. After that, they worked as an Operations Manager at Servite Houses, overseeing a supported housing project for vulnerable young women and providing counseling and life skills support.
Moving on, Debbie joined BT Financial Group in 2006 and held various positions within the company. As a Learning and Development Consultant, they designed and delivered training solutions to contact center staff. Debbie later became a Learning and Development Manager, managing a team responsible for technical learning solutions for staff in contact centers nationwide.
Debbie then transitioned to the role of Career Development Consultant at BT Financial Group, where they worked closely with employees, helping them plan their career pathways and promoting talent management within the business. Debbie completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology and English at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika from 1998 to 2003. During this time, they also obtained a Certificate in Counselling Skills from Westminster Pastoral Foundation and a Certificate in HIV/AIDS Care and Counselling from the University of South Africa.
In 1997 and 1998, Debbie attended Rhodes University, where they studied Journalism.
Later, in 2002, they obtained a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification from Teachers Training International.
In 2007, they received a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the Line Management Institute of Training.
