Michael C. Smith

Michael C. Smith is a retired lecturer in Systems Engineering at the University of Virginia, where they directed the Accelerated Master's Program for working professionals from 2004 to 2017. Prior to this role, Michael served as a Senior Scientist at SAIC from 1983 to 2004, specializing in studies, analysis, and project management across various domains, including national security and transportation. Currently, they continue to consult part-time with Leidos while engaging in academic endeavors. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia, as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in the same field from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
