Fred Bower

Fred Bower is a Distinguished Engineer at Lenovo with over twenty-five years of experience in scalable systems based on Intel architecture. They have held several key roles, including Senior Technical Staff Member at IBM, where they served as the primary architect for the Features on Demand program and played a crucial role in the divestiture of System x to Lenovo. Fred began their career as a Manufacturing Software Test Engineer at Sequent Computer Systems, where they supported factory automation and hardware testing, later developing diagnostic software for NUMA-Q platforms. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University, a Master of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Oregon Graduate Institute, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Duke University.
