Des Balmforth

Des Balmforth serves as the Engineering and Project Management Director and Senior Vice President of Customer Support and Service Solutions at Leonardo, drawing on extensive experience in aerospace and defense. Since joining Leonardo in 2005, Des has spearheaded the CS3 Line of Business, enhancing operational support and advancing technology for fixed and rotary-wing users both domestically and internationally. Previous roles include Vice President of Airborne AESA Radar, leading a multidisciplinary team to deliver advanced surveillance and fire control radars, and Head of Procurement for the Airborne and Space Systems Division. Des's career includes positions at BAE Systems, Alenia Marconi Systems, and GEC Marconi, complementing a strong educational background with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Financial Management from the University of Strathclyde.
