Conte is an economist whose work spans local development, public administration, and the social and economic impact of policy. From 2003 to 2010, Conte was Responsabile at DTN, focusing on programming and management control for the public sector, with markets including public administration, cooperative enterprises, and publicly held companies. Conte served as Assessore Bilancio, Finanze, Partecipazioni Societarie, Personale at the Comune di Bologna from 2016 to 2021, and previously held roles as Funzionario at Comune di Treviso (2014–2015) and as a Consulente at Ernst & Young (2011).
