Steve Uffelman

Steve Uffelman has a diverse work experience starting from 2012 as a Startup Attorney/Consultant. Steve then worked as an Associate in Mergers & Acquisitions-Technology at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP from 2014 to 2015. Steve also served as an Attorney Fellow at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area from 2013 to 2014.

From 2016 to 2017, Steve had multiple roles including being a Maker In Residence (iOS Educator) at Reactor Core, a Software Engineer (iOS) at Trance Inc., and a Creator and Lead Engineer at Bundler. Steve then joined Darby Smart as a Software Engineer (iOS) in 2017 and was responsible for implementing features that led to front-page App Store placement and 10x user growth. Steve also developed tools for video creators and built a social app ecosystem.

Steve was the Creator and Lead Engineer at Camma (camma.ai) from 2018 to 2019. During this time, they built a machine learning based note-taking app that utilized CoreML and Swift.

Steve worked at Square as a Senior Software Engineer (iOS) from 2017 to 2023. Steve built the Square Photo Studio app, which used a machine learning model to remove backgrounds from product photos. Steve also inserted products into 3D scenes using SceneKit.

Currently, Steve is working at Level Home Inc. as a Senior iOS Engineer, starting from 2023.

Steve Uffelman earned a Diploma from Cranbrook Schools from 2002 to 2006. Steve then pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies & French from Vanderbilt University, which they completed between 2006 and 2010. In 2010, Steve Uffelman enrolled in the University of Michigan Law School, where they obtained their Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree with a specialization in Corporate and Securities Law in 2013. Furthermore, they obtained a certification as a Licensed Attorney (inactive) from The State Bar of California in December 2013.
