Phil Hay

Phil Hay is a seasoned security research professional currently serving as the Senior Research Manager for SpiderLabs Research at LevelBlue since November 2025. In this role, Phil leads a team focused on advancing email threat detection and developing security systems, alongside conducting comprehensive malware analysis for Digital Forensics & Incident Response and managed security operations, while also applying machine learning to identify phishing and malicious URLs. Prior to joining LevelBlue, Phil held the position of Senior Research Manager at Trustwave from March 2012 to November 2025, where responsibilities included overseeing a diverse team that enhanced email security research and malware analysis capabilities. Phil began as Team Leader of Security Labs at M86 Security in January 2006, directing efforts on email security research, detection systems, and product enhancements until the acquisition by Trustwave.
