Félix Risco

Lab Manager & Head, Operations Spain at Leyden Labs

Félix Risco has over 35 years of experience in various roles within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Félix is currently working as the Lab Manager/Head of Operations Spain at Leyden Labs since October 2021.

Prior to this, Félix held the position of Chief Technical Officer and Chief Operations Officer at BIONATURIS from July 2014 to October 2019. During their time there, they led a multidisciplinary team focused on developing innovative products to meet the needs of human and animal health.

From May 2009 to May 2013, Félix worked as the Director of Technology and Innovation at GENOMICA, a company specializing in molecular diagnostics. In this role, they implemented new strategic development areas, incorporated cutting-edge technologies, and streamlined manufacturing processes.

Before joining GENOMICA, Félix served as Research Director at Vivotecnia from June 2007 to January 2009. Félix was responsible for overseeing all in vitro research activities, including drug discovery and general process automation.

Félix began their career at GlaxoSmithKline in July 1994 and held various roles within the company. Félix served as Manager of the HTS Automation Group from July 2001 to September 2006, managing state-of-the-art robotic systems for drug discovery. Additionally, they were the Leader of Molecular Screening from April 1994 to July 2001, where they developed assays for high-throughput screening and scaled up production of bio-reagents and cells for HTS.

Before joining GlaxoSmithKline, Félix worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at CSIC: Biological Research Centre & Institute of Physical Chemistry from January 1993 to December 1995, and at the Neurobiology Laboratory at Experimental Surgical Service, Hospital Puerta de Hierro, Madrid, from January 1991 to December 1992.

Félix's career in research started as a Doctoral Fellow at Fundación Jiménez Díaz, where they conducted basic research on the regulation and enzyme modulation of Vitamin D metabolism from 1986 to 1990.

Throughout their career, Félix has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a commitment to innovation and development in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.

Félix Risco obtained their PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, completing their studies in 1991.
