Dan Shockley

Managing Director at LFM Capital

Dan co-founded LFM Capital and brings to the Firm over two decades of management leadership and operating experience, having served in a variety of senior executive and functional roles in manufacturing, operations, sales and marketing, engineering, and supply chain.

He is a seasoned Lean and Continuous Improvement leader with proven leadership and transformation skills refined through various management and functional roles across multiple industries.

Prior to founding LFM, Dan was the General Manager for the Ditch Witch construction equipment business, a business unit of The Charles Machine Works, Inc. Dan’s role included direct responsibility for over 1,000 employees in manufacturing, supply chain, distribution (sales, marketing, and dealer/channel management), product development and implementation of continuous improvement as well as dotted line responsibility for finance, IT and HR.

Prior to Ditch Witch, Dan was a General Manager for Caterpillar Remanufacturing Services based in Shrewsbury, UK. In this role, he had P&L responsibility for two factories in the UK, one in France and one in Poland. Before being stationed in the UK, Dan was a plant manager in China for the Caterpillar Remanufacturing business where he led the launch of this plant.

Prior to Caterpillar in China, Dan was a fellow in the Leaders for Global Operations program at MIT where Dan studied “Big M” Manufacturing, Global Operations, and Finance. Dan graduated first in his class while also gaining real work experience with American Axle, Nokia, The Timken Company, and Nike.

Before attending MIT, Dan worked for Caterpillar in Peoria, IL, and Corinth, MS where he held roles as Quality Manager, Shop Floor Supervisor, Supplier Development Engineer, Plant Metallurgist, Process Development Engineer, and Research Engineer.

Dan received his BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla and his MS in Mechanical Engineering and MBA from MIT. He has served for over three years as a member of MIT’s Leaders for Global Operations Operating Committee and was a founding company representative of the China Leaders for Global Operations program at SJTU in Shanghai.
