Chief Engineer and AI Architect at Liberty Defense

Daniel Pineo has extensive work experience in various roles in the field of engineering and artificial intelligence. Daniel is currently the Chief Engineer and AI Architect at Liberty Defense. Prior to this, they worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Brandeis University, teaching courses on machine learning and mathematics and algorithm design for robotics.

Daniel also served as the Director of Algorithm Development at Leidos (formerly L3 Technologies), where they were responsible for leading the algorithm development on the Provision body scanner. Daniel built and led a team of research scientists and software engineers and implemented new AI research algorithms into the product. Daniel modernized the algorithm pipeline with deep convolutional neural network detectors.

Before Leidos, Daniel worked as a Senior Principal Research Engineer at BAE Systems, Inc. Daniel was involved in projects related to automatic target recognition, ship self-defense, and GPU-accelerated computer vision solutions. Daniel also served as a Senior Software Engineer, leading the development of algorithms for component integrity analysis and image denoising.

Daniel's work experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at the University of New Hampshire, where they focused on human perception of data visualizations and developed a neural network model using GPU processors. Daniel also held a Teaching Assistant position during their time at the university.

Daniel'scareer started as an Embedded Software Engineer at Integral Access, where they gained experience in embedded systems.

Daniel Pineo completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Following this, they pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of New Hampshire, from 2004 to 2010.
