Tim Spalding has been working in the technology and media industries since 2000. Tim began their career at Houghton Mifflin as a Senior Media Producer in 2000. In 2005, they founded and became president of LibraryThing, a social cataloging and social networking site for booklovers. LibraryThing has over 325,000 members and 22 million books, making it the second largest library in the United States. The company employs seven people around the world, including three programmers and two librarians.

Tim Spalding obtained a BA in Classics and Tim'story from Georgetown University. Tim then attended the University of Michigan to pursue a degree in Classical Philology, however they dropped out before completing the degree.
