Mike Souter has a strong background in anesthesiology and pain medicine. Mike worked as a Professor of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington since 2001 and currently holds that position. Mike also served as an Attending Physician at the same university starting from the year 2001. Additionally, they worked as the Medical Director at LifeCenter Northwest from 2008 onwards. From 2010 until August 2022, they held the position of Professor & Chief of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at Harborview Medical Center. Prior to their academic career, they worked as a Senior Lecturer in Anaesthesia & Critical Care at the University of Glasgow from 1997 to 2001. Mike began their career as a Surgeon Lieutenant in the Royal Navy from 1985 to 1989.
Mike Souter attended Inverness Royal Academy from 1976 to 1979. Mike did not receive a degree or specialize in any specific field during this time. Following their education at Inverness Royal Academy, Souter pursued a degree in Medicine at The University of Edinburgh from 1979 to 1984. Mike obtained an MB,ChB degree in Medicine upon completion of their studies.
