THE FUTURE OF PET MEDICINE
Lifescient is developing long-acting injectable medications which when placed in the pet by a veterinarian will release medication continuously in a controlled manner for weeks and months at a time. Long-acting injectables will replace daily oral dosing and since they are safely absorbed by the body, they do not have to be removed. This will free pet parents from the burden of daily dosing and restore peace of mind. For the pet this translates into increased comfort and superior quality of care. The company has received notification of acceptance from the Food and Drug Administration of the company’s Investigational New Animal Drug application for LS-001, an LAI proposed for the control of pain associated with bone cancer in dogs with a subdermal injection. The FDA has also granted a sponsor fee waiver for LS-001 based on the product being intended for Minor Use in a Major Species (MUMS). The Company is seeking a MUMS designation which will provide an extended period of exclusive marketing rights, and also be eligible for an FDA grant to support product development.
