Senior Software Engineer at LightDeck Diagnostics

Brad Metziner has over 10 years of experience in software engineering. Brad began their career in 2002 as a Software Engineer at Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). From 2012 to 2018, they were a Senior Software Developer at Terumo BCT, where they implemented a fail-safe boot method for a Yocto Linux system running on an ARM Cortex A9 processor board, designed and implemented object-oriented C++ code changes in a large real-time code-base of over 2 million LOC for a medical device, and ported touch-screen, font and graphics device drivers from VxWorks 5. In 2016, they became a Senior Engineer at Cardinal Peak, where they streamlined the build and added custom versioning to a Yocto Linux-based system, implemented an interface to an accelerometer in bringing up a new STM32 microcontroller-based board, and designed and coded enhancements for a 'fitbit' for dogs IOT device that runs on FreeRTOS and uses a Marvell 88MC200 micro-controller. In 2017, they joined CONMED Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer, where they worked on embedded Android and C++ and custom board bring-up to include integrating external RAM chips. Brad is currently employed at LightDeck Diagnostics as a Senior Software Engineer.

Brad Metziner obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Computer Science from Washington State University from 1998 to 2002. Brad then attended the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center from 1992 to 1993, studying Korean Language. Metziner attended the University of Southern California from 2004 to 2006, but did not obtain a degree. Brad then attended Columbia University in 2007, but again did not obtain a degree. In October 2007, they obtained a SPRDE - Systems Engineering Level III certification from the Defense Acquisition University.
