Prior to their tenure at Lightfoot, Calum worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Researcher at Bristol Robotics Lab from July 2010 to April 2014. During this time, they conducted research on touch information required by surgeons for safer teleoperated surgeries and developed a novel deformation-based tactile feedback system.

Calum also has experience working at Paramount Panels UK as a Contractor providing electronic and software support. Calum was involved in LED lighting circuits for aircraft, internal test equipment, website design, and industry/public engagement at trade events.

Early in their career, Calum served as a Laboratory Manager at PA Consulting Group in 2006.
