John Hazard's work experience begins in 2000 when they joined Asbury Park Press as a Staff Writer. John then moved on to Night and Day Publishing, where they served as an Associate Editor from 2004 to 2005. From 2005 to 2008, they worked at Ziff Davis Enterprise as a Senior Editor for eWEEK.com and later as a News Editor for eWEEK. In 2008, they joined TheLadders.com as a News Editor.

In 2011, Hazard had multiple roles at different companies. John worked as a Deputy Web Editor for The American Lawyer at ALM. John also served as a Blogger for ZDNet under CBS Interactive.

Hazard's tenure at Contently began in 2011. John started as the Director of Content and Community, managing the company's freelance journalist network. John subsequently became the Director of Accounts, overseeing customer success for Contently's software and network solutions. After that, they held the position of Director of Contently Studio, where they built and managed an agency-like unit to provide deeper services for software clients. Lastly, they served as the Vice President of Services, responsible for developing the company's annual strategy and leading a team of 17 employees in four lines of business.

In 2017, Hazard co-founded Lighthouse Creative Group, where they are currently involved.
