Hugh Johnston is an experienced Development Manager currently working at Lightsource bp since November 2025, with a strong background in power development. Prior to this, Hugh served as Manager of Power Development at AGL from March 2019 to October 2025, focusing on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects and contractor engagement. In various roles at AGL, including as Power Developer and Asset Manager for Commercial Solar, Hugh contributed to onshore wind, battery, and pumped hydro projects, notably playing a significant role in the development of the 500MW/1000MWh Liddell BESS project. Hugh began the professional journey as an Energy Data Analyst at Smart Commercial Energy and has also gained customer service experience in different industries, including retail and hospitality. Hugh holds a degree in Renewable Energy Engineering from UNSW, completed between 2016 and 2019.
