Peter Nieh is a Co-Founder & Partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners. Peter has also worked with General Magic, Acer America Corp., and Bain & Company.

Peter Nieh started their career as an engineer at Apple Computer from 1985 to 1987. Peter later became a consultant and then an associate consultant at Bain & Company from 1987 to 1990. In 1990, they joined Acer America Corp. as a product manager and was responsible for launching Acer's first laptop computer into the U.S. market. Peter left Acer in 1992 to join General Magic, a startup that provided an operating system for mobile devices (precursor to the smartphone) to consumer electronics and cellphone OEMs; and software platforms to network providers to enable electronic marketplaces (content, commerce, community) before the Web existed. Peter was one of the first 30 employees at General Magic and helped strike partnerships with service providers (eg AT&T, NTT, France Telecom) and consumer electronics companies (eg Sony, Motorola, Panasonic). The company went public in 1995 and they left General Magic in 1995.

In 1996, they co-founded WebOS, a software platform for digital devices that was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2010. Peter then co-founded Agawi, a cloud gaming company that was acquired by Intel in 2013. In 2014, they joined Lightspeed Venture Partners as a partner.

Peter Nieh attended Stanford University, where they earned a BS in electrical engineering and a AB in economics. Peter then attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where they earned an MBA. Peter also attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Gelinas Junior High School.

They work with Amanda Frink - Head of People, Tal Morgenstern - Partner, and John W. Thompson - Venture Partner. Peter Nieh reports to Ravi Mhatre, Founder & Managing Director.
