Hannes Gassert is the co-founder of Liip, a successful web development company in Switzerland. Hannes also serves as the President of CHplusplus and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia. Hannes is a board member for Powercoders- Coding Academy for Refugees and serves as an advisory board member for Tadah AG. Hannes is a partner at both ⦆crstl and wemakeit.com, where they play a role in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. Additionally, Hannes is a founding board member of Opendata.ch, contributing to the promotion of open government data. Hannes has also served as a jury member for Best of Swiss Web, Europe's oldest web awards. Hannes briefly ran for the Nationalrat in 2019, advocating for digital responsibility, innovation, and climate action.

Hannes Gassert has a diverse education history. Hannes attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2022, focusing on Public Policy Analysis. Prior to that, they pursued a course of study in Computer Science & Media Studies at Université de Fribourg - Universität Freiburg from 2000 to 2006. During this time, they also obtained a certification as a KMI Certified Knowledge Manager from KM Institute (KMI) in 2005. It is unclear when or if they completed any education at DERI Galway or Gymnasium Leonhard.
