Zion Sofer

Zion Sofer has over 20 years of work experience. In 2000, they began their career as a Technical Support Representative at 013barak. Zion then worked as a Knowledge Worker for the Israeli Defense Forces from 2001-2003. From 2003-2005, they were a Programmer for the Israeli Defense Forces, and from 2005-2006 they were a Support Employee at Sofaware. From 2006-2012, they worked at ITG as a QA, and from 2012-2015 they were a DevOps Developer at WatchDox (acquired by BlackBerry). Zion then worked as a DevOps Engineer at BlackBerry from 2015-2015, and a Back End Developer and DevOps Engineer at Windward from 2015-2022. Currently, Zion Sofer is a Senior Software Engineer at LinearB and a DevOps Lead at Griiip. At Griiip, they have taken part in the transformation from a single deployment to a multi regional, multi tenant deployment. Zion has used AWS ECS, ECR, Code Deploy, Lambda, Cloudformation, CDK, API Gateway and Cloudmap to achieve this purpose, as well as integrating with existing and new Workflows in Github Actions. At Windward, they have conducted the migration of hundreds of applications from self managed MongoDB to Cloud based solution, and has owned back-end services and infrastructure components such as Apache Spark, Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, continuous integration and deployment using Jenkins CI, monitoring and alerting using Grafana and InfluxDB and orchestration on top of AWS cloud infrastructure.

Zion Sofer received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science from The Academic College of Tel-Aviv, Yaffo between 2008 and 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Zertifikat Deutsch in German Language and Literature from Goethe Institut, Tel Aviv between 2004 and 2007. In 2003, they completed a Software developer course in Software development and computer science at Basmach (Mamram).
