Ben Vargas began their work experience in 2018 as a Student Intern at Lionakis, where they gained introductory experience in architectural practice. Ben then worked as an Architectural Intern at Clark Pacific in 2019, where they primarily aided conceptual design and performed code analysis. In 2020, Ben served as a Research Assistant at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, collaborating on research projects related to urban development. Ben returned to Lionakis in 2021 as a Student Intern before transitioning to the role of Designer 1 in 2022. In their current position, Ben works on conceptual design, design development/documentation, and construction administration for civic and commercial projects. Ben is an active member of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) committee and represents the firm as the AIA Central Valley Emerging Professionals representative.

Ben Vargas attended Oak Ridge High School from 2012 to 2016. After completing high school, they enrolled in Cosumnes River College in 2016 and studied architecture until 2019. Subsequently, Ben Vargas transferred to California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 2019, where they pursued a Bachelor of Architecture degree. Ben completed their studies at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 2022 and earned their Bachelor of Architecture degree. The field of study for their degree at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo was Architecture.
