Derek Schorzman

Vice President, Manufacturing Sciences at Liquidia

Derek Schorzman has a diverse work experience in the field of manufacturing sciences and research and development. Derek started their career as a Post-doctoral research associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. Derek then worked as a Senior Scientist at Bausch & Lomb from 2003 to 2006, where they focused on developing silicone hydrogel materials for biomedical devices. In 2006, they joined BD Medical as a Principal Engineer, where they contributed to continuous glucose monitoring product development. Later that year, they joined Liquidia Corporation, where they started as an Executive Director, focusing on continuous nanoparticle manufacturing platform design, optimization, and prototyping, as well as research and development of engineered nanoparticle pharmaceutical delivery vehicles and polymer synthesis. Currently, they hold the position of Vice President, Manufacturing Sciences at Liquidia Corporation.

Derek Schorzman completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Utah State University from 1994 to 1998. Derek then pursued further education and obtained their Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University between 1998 and 2002.
