Douglas Mar's work experience begins in 1994 when they worked as an NRC Postdoctoral Fellow at the Naval Research Laboratory. Douglas then transitioned to Boston University in 1998 as a Research Associate and worked there until 2001. After that, they joined the University of Texas at Austin as a Research Associate and worked there until 2007. Finally, Douglas Mar became a Principal Scientist at Liquidia Technologies in 2007.

Douglas Mar completed their education by obtaining a PhD in Physics from Harvard University, where they studied from 1987 to 1994. Prior to that, from 1983 to 1987, they pursued their bachelor's degrees in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Washington.
