Tommy Powell is a Senior Performance Engineer at LiquidPiston since June 2021, bringing extensive expertise in combustion and fuels science. Prior to this role, Tommy served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, focusing on fuel chemistry effects on operability and emissions for various combustion modes. Tommy also held research positions at Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, where contributions included constructing a single-cylinder HCCI test cell and conducting experiments with Thermal Barrier Coatings. Tommy's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Automotive Engineering from Clemson University and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
