David Thompson

David Thompson is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in the medical technology field, currently serving as the Director of Emerging Technology at LivaNova since October 2003. Thompson has successfully led the development of a novel rechargeable neurostimulation system, overseeing all aspects of the project, including firmware, software, systems, electrical, RF, and mechanical designs, ultimately achieving FDA approval alongside a positive clinical trial outcome. Prior to this role, Thompson was a Principal R&D Engineer at Cleveland Clinic, engaging in collaborations to design and evaluate new medical products, and served as a Research Engineer at the University of Dayton Research Institute. Thompson holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Dayton, and is certified as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
